Travel and Accommodations

Travel to Lehigh

Conference participants should plan to arrive at Lehigh on Tuesday, August 9.  The workshop will begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10. At its conclusion on August 10, we will provide van transportation to the main conference hotel in Philadelphia. (So, you will want to start your hotel reservation in Philadelphia with the night of the 10th.)

By Plane

If your travel to the main CogSci 2016 conference will require a flight, we recommend that you look into whether you can fly into our local airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport (airport code ABE), for the workshop and fly back from the main conference via Philadelphia (airport code PHL). Lehigh Valley International Airport is only a few miles from campus. (However, you will not want your return from CogSci 2016 to start at LVIA because there will be no easy way to get to this airport from Philadelphia.)

If you cannot get an incoming flight to ABE, you will probably want to book your incoming flight to Philadelphia, which will ensure an easy return from the main conference via Philadelphia. We will provide a van to pick conference participants up at the airport and bring them to Lehigh (about 1 to 1.5 hour drive).  You may need to wait a bit for the ride, depending on when other participants are arriving.

An alternative is to fly into Newark (airport code EWR).  From here, you can get a bus to a stop within walking distance of the hotel in Bethlehem.  Again, though, it is not advisable to choose this arrival location unless you can leave the main conference via the Philadelphia airport.

By Bus

Transbridge Bus runs from New York City and Newark Airport (as well as several other locations) to Bethlehem.

Bieber Bus runs from Philadelphia to Bethlehem on a limited schedule.

The bus stop is a bit isolated, and, while generally quite safe, we suggest avoiding arriving there alone at night.

By Car

Maps and driving directions are available from Lehigh University.
